As I brought Wednesday's lesson at our Prayer meeting it was to examine the importance of Jesus suffering about the face mouth and head as he was being tormented by the Religious leaders.
Jesus was buffeted about the face, mouth and head. The religious leaders did not like His words, or His Prophesies. When he was arrested, they made fun of Him and said, “Prophesy to us,” as they slapped him on the face, mouth and head.
Jesus knew that future believers would need to use their entire body, including their mouth, to take the Gospel to others. Believers need to operate in the Holy Spirit Gifts which are mostly utilized through the mouth, and hands. This beating was a portion of Jesus’ suffering to mar his physical facial features so that we could receive Spiritual gifts using our mouth and face.
Isaiah prophesied - - He was beaten about the face and head. Isaiah 52:14 “At first everyone was
appalled. He didn’t even look human a
ruined face, disfigured past recognition.”
Isaiah 53: - - He hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no
beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of
sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him;
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he hath borne our grief's, and carried our
sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our
iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we
are healed.
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth.
Prophesy fulfilled: Matthew 26:67 Then did they spit in his face, beating him with their fists and others struck his face with the palms of their hands.
John 19:1 Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged
severely.
Jesus was whipped, and hit upon with reeds. They mocked him placing a crown of thorns on
His head. They nailed his hands and feet
to a wooden cross. A soldier thrust a
sword through his side to make sure he was dead. His Holy blood was shed for us all. Jesus suffered and died for you and for me so
we could experience salvation if we willingly come to Him in Prayer and receive Him into
our Life. He rose from the dead and
ascended so that we could have the Indwelling Holy Spirit along with all the Holy
Spiritual Gifts.
Gifts of the Holy Spirit are for us today as believers. The Promise continues - - -
1 Corinthians 12:8-10 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues.
Notice these gifts operate
from God using our body, our face, mouth, hands.
Jesus paid a terrible price in his body for
us to receive salvation and then to be used by God to preach, prophesy, and minster
through the other Holy Spirit gifts.
Jesus was cruelly tortured and slain for our Total Salvation; Spirit, Soul and Body.
When we receive Jesus into our life, our Spirit is reborn and we become a new creature. Our body remains the same, but when we need healing we can ask and receive health. Our Soul is our mind, will and emotions. Our Soup part of our being gives us trouble in our thinking, but as we read our Bible and digest the scriptures, our soul becomes renewed.
