GOD’S LOVE FOR YOU– SENT JESUS TO THE CROSS

GOD’S LOVE FOR YOU– SENT JESUS TO THE CROSS

Our Teacher was called out of town, and I agreed to teach the Bible Study.  Since it is so close to Easter, I chose a study on the Love of God.  I present here an edited version.

Romans 5:5  (Darby version) - - and hope does not make ashamed, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by [the] Holy Spirit which has been given to us:

What Does it Mean that God is Love?

First John 4:7-9 reveals; "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love."   (Love unconditional, Love without end.)

Because God Loves - - He gave- - John 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

God saves us by His Grace - - as we believe on Jesus

Ephesians 2: 8-9  For by grace are you saved, through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Isaiah 64:6  For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

When Jesus died, our sins were placed on his body and He carried our sins, and our pain to the grave.  He arose triumphant over sin and spiritual death to bring us everlasting life.

1 Peter 2:24  and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His stripes you were healed.

Romans 5: 6-8  Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Jesus unites us with God the Father so that we can boldly enter into His presence.

Galatians 2:20  My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

WHAT HAS GOD “SAVED” US FROM?

We are saved from sin and its consequences.  We are saved from eternal damnation.

Jesus taught; there was a Hell to shun and a Heaven to gain.

Matthew 25:46 These, then, will be sent off to eternal punishment, but the righteous will go to eternal life.

Matthew 13: 41-42  The Son of Man shall send out His angels, and they shall gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who do iniquity, and shall cast them into a furnace of fire. There shall be weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth."

2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 - - in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God and who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power ...

Romans 6:23   For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

As we walk with Jesus – His LIFE is in us, and daily we are saved from temptation, peril, and emotional trauma.  Because Jesus, lives in us, His LIFE continues to rescue us.

Christians have a blessed Hope for the Lords return - -

Jesus promised that He would come again and take us to be with Him, He said in John 14:3  In my Father’s house are many mansions, I go to prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

When Jesus ascended back to heaven, the Holy angels said, Do not fear, because this same Jesus that you see returning to heaven shall come again in like manner to receive you unto himself.

Jesus taught in (Matthew 24:36-44) "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.

Paul reminds us in (1 Thessalonians 4:16-)  "For the Lord [Jesus] himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel's call, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first; then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.

(Simple Review)  THE GOSPEL

The gospel is that Jesus died for sinners on the cross, was buried, and rose from the dead, (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)  His death was a sacrifice that turns away the wrath of God.  (1 John 2:2)  Believing on Jesus is the only way to be saved.
Jesus is the one who died for the sins of the world (1 John 2:2) - He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
Jesus is the only way to God the Father.  Jesus is the one who died for the sins of the world, He is the only way to God the Father, (John 14:6)
He alone reveals God, (Matthew 11:27)  He has all authority in heaven and earth.  (Matthew 28:18).
It is only through Jesus that you can be saved from God’s wrath. (Ephesians 2:3)  He can forgive you of your sin.  (Luke 5:20, Matthew 9:2)
He can remove the guilt that is upon your soul.  Jesus can set you free from the bondage of sin that blinds your eyes, weakens your soul, and brings you to despair.
Jesus can do this because he bore sin in His body on the Cross (1 Peter 2:24) so that those who trust in Him would be saved.

Romans 10:9-10   If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.   For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
