Characteristics Of A Godly Man (or Woman)

Characteristics Of A Godly Man (or Woman)

Pastor Allan began his message by saying; today he wanted to talk about Fathers not doing their job.  In this world there are so many sounds, and God has given many gifts to use.  We have a voice to use, and to share the Gospel.  We need to quit saying, “I am not worthy,” because God has made you worthy.

Yes at times, we all fall short, but we need to step up and get closer to Jesus and BE a person of integrity, today and tomorrow.

The Characteristics of a Godly Man or women require a personal relationship with Jesus.

#1  Step Up:  It is time to be willing to initiate and be men or women of action.  To be strong, courageous, and an example to our children and to others.

Society is trying to undermine all that God has founded as normal.  What can one person do?  It was one person who stopped prayer and the Bible in schools.  If one woman can change history, think what the Body of Christ can do?  God has given us a future and a plan for good.  Not just in the physical realm but in the Spiritual.  We must stand in the gap for our family and be committed to Christ and also to our community.

#2.  Speak out:  Teach your children truth now, and later they will make their own choices, hopefully on what you have taught them.  When they come home from school saying their teacher says this and that - - tell them that the Bible says sin is sin.  Silence is a sin.  Be ready to give a defense in gentleness and reverence.  Be bold and take a stand for we are in desperate times.

#3.  Stand Strong:  Don’t give in if you are criticized.  The enemy will try to discourage you, but you can’t allow him to do that.  Sometimes we are smacked by a wave, but don’t slide back.  Discover the attack and Pray God to cover us with the Blood of Jesus.  God’s will isn’t always a piece of cake, but your toil is not in vain.  Be mature in God.

I Corinthians 15:58  Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

The enemy attacks in a vulnerable spot; the family. The enemy wants to “take you out, but tighten up security with prayer and dedication.  Ask God for a Father’s heart who loves in purity.  Ask for a heart that hurts when other’s hurt, to have empathy with the broken the ugly and the smelly.  Be prepared to meet opposition, but see others not for what they are now, but what they are going to be.

It is God’s will for us to be like Jesus.

#4.  Stay humble:  Don’t try to take credit.  Pride has no place.  I Peter 5:5 Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

#5.  Serve the King Jesus.  Seek the kingdom of His Righteousness and serve God.  It is Him who sanctifies us.  Don’t settle to be an average Christian, but serve the King by serving others.  Stand in the gap for your Pastor, that he may preach truth and not a watered down gospel.  We desire reality, and a genuine move of the Holy Spirit.

Claim holiness, which is not the most popular thing, but allow God to flow through you as a clean vessel.  Don’t get too comfortable because we are going to go into deeper levels with God.

Pray for boldness and for these Godly Characteristics’ to show up in your life.

These are great checkpoints for us as parents and even just Christians. I like the one about speaking out in our homes and teaching our kids what sin is and warn of the consequences of it in life. This is a great post.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us here at Tell Me a Story!!!!!
Love,
Mary

Wonderful points, Hazel. It is time that we, as the Body of Christ, take a stand...and to stand in the gap, as you said.
