What Prevents the Power from God?

These notes were taken from a Bible Study about Power with God at Open Door Church.  Allow these words to minister to you and encourage you to understand there is MORE God wants to do for and with you as you allow Jesus to work through you.

What Keeps Us from The Power of God?

1.     Sin:  John 14:21 (KJV) He that hath my commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loves me:

2.     Ignorance:  Hosea 4:6 (KJV)My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:

3.     Unbelief:  Romans 14:23  Whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
Mark 6:6 And he marveled because of their unbelief.

4.     Pride:  Luke 10:20  Rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

5.     Fear:  2 Timothy 1:7  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

6.     Prayerlessness:  Luke 18:1 Men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

7.     Failure to ASK: Luke 11:13  If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

New Testament Power is a Literal Force.  Specifically miraculous Power, usually by impartation by the Holy Spirit and at times by Prophets.

If you desire to move in Holy Spirit Power you must first search your heart asking God to reveal any thing that is preventing you from moving in God and then repent of all sin.

Be willing to lay down your Will and accept God’s Will for your life.

Finally ASK to be filled with the Holy Spirit and His Power.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Jesus said you shall do mightier works:

John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

1 Corinthians 2:9-10 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.  But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God.

So many churches these days seem to do things by form and format. I have seen and felt times when I knew the Holy Spirit was trying to move, but those in charge swooped in and squelched it. Very sad. Of course there is always balance, and new Christians can't just go off in tangents either. (Sigh) A savvy Pastor and elders could watch over theses things just fine!

I agree with you on this point. Quiet Sad.

Much of this has been very truthful in my heart. I've looked at the sinfulness options and turn to the Lord many, many times. Sometimes just during the day when much is poured on me from what I see re: me and others. Trusting Him is all I can do from her to Heaven. Thanks for sharing.
