Pride and Confidence?

Hebrews 10:35-36   Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.  For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:
I believe that a truly Born Again Christian can mistake CONFIDENCE and think that it is Pride.

When Jesus gave the Great Commission, He included his Authority along with the GO ye and preach and teach.  We should not to be afraid to use what he has equipped us to use.

The Bible instructs us to Fear NOT and to be bold in the Lord. Although humility is also a walk, boldness truly means that IN Christ I can do all things through Him, but without Him I am nothing.

Psalms 118:6 The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?

Proverbs 28:1 Amplified Bible The wicked flee when no man pursues them, but the [uncompromisingly] righteous are bold as a lion.

As a garment we put on HIS righteousness, (not our own) we can then stand PROUD in God and act out what He is telling us to do.

I am reminded of the little kindergarten children who receive their diplomas. They stand so proud, not arrogant, but pleased that they have passed every test. Also they are happy that their parents are proud of them!!

Be confident in the assurance that God is proud of YOU!

Does that not please you?

Hi Hazel,
It is so true that we need to recognize the gifts God placed in us to pass on to others, and work to make the very best of them. It's a stewardship, isn't it? It's also true that the greatest things I've ever done were things I could not do, did not have the capability in myself, and had to call on God to act through me. 2 Cr 12:9-10 and Jn 15:5 have been key scriptures in my life. He's the one Who made this whimpering wimp as bold as a Lion when I needed to be. Apart from Him I could do nothing, so how could I boast in anything but Him? My God is so amazing!

Hi Hazel - this is a very timely post for me as I feel I'm about to step outside of my comfort zone for God and this is a great reminder He will equip me to do so.
God bless
Tracy

You are right the Hebrews 10:35-36 would have been perfect for this post. I agree with what you said about people mistaking PRIDE for CONFIDENCE. It's true for women but in my opinion more so for men. It's my prayer that men will be more courageous and not be afraid to lead their families. And be confident in themselves and what God would have them be.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I like the image of a kindergarten graduate to show how we can be proud of our hard work yet remember that we remain children in the eyes of God.
