Spiritual Doors

Taking notes and gleaning from Pastor Jerry’s sermon as he read from John 20:19-31

Jesus had risen from the dead and appeared to Mary and told her to go and tell the disciples that he was raised indeed.  When his friends heard the good news, they doubted and were fearful.

John 20:19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”

Then Jesus breathed on them and said “Receive ye the Holy Ghost.”  They received the Holy Spirit into their inward man and were born again.  Later they were to experience another filling of the Holy Spirit that would grant them power to do exploits.

The disciples were struggling; “Who is this Man?” Jesus had taken tender care to prepare his disciples about his death and resurrection.  However their ears were deaf to his words.

Now they had nothing going for them except the memories of His messages.  With Him, they had walked confidently, and now they were hiding in a room behind locked doors.

Then Jesus appeared miraculously into the locked room - - and the reality was before them to see and touch.  Now they must face new and startling facts that Jesus was alive and He was commissioning them to go and tell others.

The gospel of John is a Masterpiece, revealing Jesus as Lord.  The gospel quickly spread quickly through out the then known world.

The disciples became “The church,” not a building, but a spiritual army.  They were “Called out" to be followers.

The experience of faith is a continuation, seeking and developing into a deep personal relationship with Jesus.

What does the risen Christ mean to each of us personally?  Consider your own personal Faith Walk.  Is Jesus alive and REAL to you?

At times we struggle, and are dutifully plodding through life, but Jesus comes when we are not aware through those locked doors.

Often our Spiritual doors are closed and bolted, but if we are seeking Him, and are ready to accept, the Holy Spirit will come through those locked doors of our heart and mind to bring us a revelation of Jesus face to face.

A living God is an amazing thing and we learn to trust, seek and grow as we accept His truth and believe His words.

Allow Jesus to breath on you and send you forth to go and tell others the Gospel message; He is alive and desires to live in and through you.

I love how a group of cowards were turned into men of renown, no fear of physical death because they saw our Savior raised from the dead and knew we would follow.

God is looking for people willing to share His message. The harvest is plentiful. All we must do is seek Him, pray and He will guide us to people to share His message with. If only we are willing!
