Wisdom and Foolishness

1 Corinthians 1:21  For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

Gleaning today from Pastor Jerry’s sermon as he was reading from Proverbs chapter 1:20-33 - - A Call to wisdom

Pastor J reminded us that this world is full of maddening days.  We have everyday concerns about our work, our family and life in general.

Wisdom in many instances seems to be missing and is nowhere to be found.  We cross our fingers about these maddening days.

The early Christians had a fish as a sign of Christianity.  It is said that they also had a secret signal between them that meant everything is fine, when they would cross their fingers.

Today there is enormous energy expended in ignoring Truth.  On TV we view those who spin the truth into lies for cover-ups.  Foolishness abounds and some men seek to thrive on it.

Many feel secure and are at ease with their fingers crossed while disaster is close around us.

1 Corinthians 3:19  For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.  For it is written, He takes the wise in their own craftiness.

Psalms 19 continually tells us the story of our Great God and that He is perfect.

The book of Proverbs contains much wisdom, and was written by many authors, not just Solomon.  Sages or wise men contributed to its writings.

Ships are known as she.

The Hebrew word for Wisdom is feminine and wisdom is also referred to as she.   She (wisdom) is a reflection of eternal life.

Life on earth cannot consist without the SUN and eternal life is through God’s only begotten SON.

Proverbs 1:2  To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;

To keep knowledge and to listen is a mark of wisdom.

Wisdom unfolds the plans of God, and even within these maddening days, know that God is Good.

James 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives to all men liberally, and upbraids not; and it shall be given him.

Praise God he grants us wisdom when we ask. Not according to the world's wisdom but kingdom wisdom.

I absolutely love the verse of scripture in James 1:5--it is so encouraging to me, because we so easily get lost in our hopelessness and foolishness, don't we? I would be a mess without God--and truth is, I still am--but where would I be without Him? Really? Thank you for the reminder that all I have to do is ask. A good encouragement. Blessings.
